On the 26th of August, the CELL lab got a new Dr with a double degree at KU Leuven and Maastricht University: Dr. Charlotte Buecken successfully defended her impressive thesis entitled “’I Never Said that!’ The impact of false denials on memory based testimony”.

Great achievements in our lab!
On May 19h, Paul Riesthuis, achieved a double degree PhD at KU Leuven and Maastricht University with his thesis: “When lying becomes the truth: the impact of lying on memory in the court room”. Congrats!

Great achievements in our lab!
On May 27th, Sanne Houben achieved the double degree of PhD at Maastricht University and KU Leuven discussing a thesis on EMDR and false memories. On the 23rd of June, Lilian Kloft successfully defended her PhD thesis on the effects of drugs on the creation of false memories obtaining the degree Cum Laude!

On the 31st of March, the CELL lab got a new Dr! Fabiana Battista successfully obtained the joint degree of PhD in Psychology and Criminology by defending her thesis entitled How Witnesses Remember Crimes: The Role of Cognitive Resources and Deception on Memory.

Another interesting publication from our lab by Prof. dr. Henry Otgaar. The paper accepted in Perspectives on Psychological Science shows how beliefs in unconscious repressed memory are still strong among legal, clinical, and academic professionals. See here!
NEW FWO GRANT FOR CELL

Huge news today for our group! Prof. dr. Henry Otgaar received a FWO Senior Research grant for the project “The Fate of False Memory”. The project will aim to investigate how normal forgetting affects the formation of false memories.

A NEW PHD STUDENT POSITION IS NOW OPENED

Prof. dr. Henry Otgaar has a new PhD student position! The project is collaborative with the Dutch Police Academy and the candidate will be going to work on online and tele forensic interviewing under the supervision of Prof. Henry Otgaar (KU Leuven and Maastricht University), Prof. Corine de Ruiter (Maastricht University), dr. Koen Geijsen (Maastricht University, Police Academy), and dr. Nicolien Kop (Police Academy).
